Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London are now using drones to move blood samples between their two hospital labs, cutting a journey that took over half an hour by road down to under two minutes. It’s cheaper to run, cuts emissions by a large margin compared to non-electric vehicles, and avoids London’s usual congestion. The whole thing is a six month trial under CAA and NATS oversight, with the hope it becomes a model for wider NHS use if it goes well.
